This week, Teppei Okada tears it up by combining two beloved, stereotypically Asian pastimes: video games and violin. And probably much to the pleasure of his proud Asian parents, he’s not the one playing the games. Instead, Okada plays violin in sync with the game events. It’s pretty exciting, take a gander.

Berkeley-based Derek Kan of hip-hop duo Magnetic North created this hip-hop tribute to RENT. It may be about not doing so hot academically, but Derek really nails the honor part. Oh, and Derek’s got some serious talent.

If you like what you see, go see Magnetic North + Taiyo Na live in New York on June 4th for the release of their new album, Home:Word.

Also at the event, Hyphen magazine will be celebrating their 20th issue release! Check the Hyphen blog for more info.

And if your parents ask where you’re going and why you aren’t studying, tell them you’re studying the physics of sound or something. Hey, you can also get a fatty discount on Hyphen subscriptions! Deal!

This week’s video isn’t exactly a full video; it’s a preview for Wong Fu Productions, Kev Jumba, ft. David Choi’s upcoming song, “Dance to This Song.” It’s a huge collaboration with some hilarious and brilliant Asian American talent, and  something we’re definitely looking forward to.

This week, it’s all about Street Fighter High, produced by Jennifer Zhang. Before they were fighters, they were endearing, awkward teens. Who wasn’t?

The video is a tad on the long side, but it’s definitely worth a watch. Teen Dhalsim tears it up. Yoga fire!

This girl’s pretty talented. Um… I don’t know about you, but all I could think about was how much all those iPhones must have cost. Plus the apps! MLIA$ian.

Kev Jumba takes us through a workday in the life of his dad. Pretty exciting, eh?
