Independence Day

This 4th of July, our family didn’t do anything. No fireworks, no party, NOTHING
whatsoever. Can you guess why?
Because “our” independence day is on August 15th. (Korean Independence

One year, my parents ran out of fireworks at our 4th of July party. But my dad saved the night by bringing out leftover Chinese New Year firecrackers he found in the garage.

Diverse Breakroom

In our breakroom at work, we have three slots for plastic knives, plastic
spoons, and plastic forks. I eat Chinese or Japanese food almost everyday at
work. So one day when I went to go pick up my take out, I grabbed a huge handful
of chopsticks and I placed them next to the pasticware at work. I’m sure the
other two Asian people at my work appreciated it.

Mom Gets It Done

last week my mom and i went to go eat dim sum. they were out of ba lo bow, my
mom’s favorite. she had asked to speak to the manager and when he came to our
table, my mom flirted with him in cantonese…10 mins later, my mom got two
fresh orders of ba lo bow. it was disturbing, awkward, and very impressive.
