I was making a low A in honors biology. I had a test coming up the next day. My
father told me I needed to do better on this than I have on previous tests. He
made a "pretest" based of of my study guide. It was more difficult
than the actual test itself. And he isn’t even the asian parent in my family.

This summer, my aunt, my cousin, and I went to the supermarket to get groceries.
We’re all chinese. My cousin wanted the Hershey’s chocolate syrup, and my aunt
let him get it since the sign said that it was on sale. When we got to cashier,
the lady told us that it was on sale, but the sale isn’t going on anymore. We
had gotten the syrup right before when they took the sale sign down. So,
because of this, we stood for 30min-1hour while my aunt argued over 20 CENTS!!

When my extended family goes out to dinner, we have to keep an eye on my grandma. She goes beyond stealing napkins — she’ll try to take the salt and pepper shakers, and even that little container with chili hot sauce at Chinese restaurants. She plans ahead and often brings a small plastic bag to stash them in. MLIAsian.

From before Thanksgiving my dad was thinking of a ‘thanksgiving feast’
My mom on the other hand complained how disgusting American food is.
My dad is white, my mom is Japanese.
In the end?? We’re having sushi, a grand feast!

For Thanksgiving, my family was gathered eating lunch and discussing the origins
of this holiday. They were joking, saying how “one year, the Native
Americans gave us a feast. The next year, we gave them small pox and took their
land.” I then had to kindly remind everyone that we’re Vietnamese, and we
just got here about <40 years ago. MLIAsian.
